Bread Bowl Dip Filled With Garlic Cheese

Equipment

  • Heavy Duty Aluminum foil
  • 1 Large Skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French Bread
  • 8 oz Butter
  • 1 bunch Green Onions - chopped
  • 8 cloves Garlic - minced
  • 12 oz Cheddar Cheese - grated
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese - room temperature
  • 6 sm French Rolls - sliced (not all the way through)
  • 16 oz Sour Cream

Instructions

  • Preheat over to 350
  • Cut a hole in the top of the French Bread (about 5 inches in diameter)
  • Remove soft bread from the top. Scoop out the bread from the loaf to make a bread bowl
  • Melt 2 tbsp of butter in a skillet and saute the onions and 1/2 of the garlic until onions wilt - don't overcook
  • Add cream cheese, sour cream, and cheddar cheese to the skillet and mix well
  • Put the mixture in the bread bowl and cover with the top of the bread
  • Wrap bread bowl in double thick heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • Bake for 1.5 - 2 hours
  • Mix the remaining garlic butter spread on the French rolls - wrap in foil - bake for 30 minutes
  • Use French rolls and extra bread to dip in the cheese
  • Eat the bowl when done! YUM!

Notes

Make sure to save all of the bread you scoop out to use for dipping.  And don't waste the empty delicious bread bowl at to the end.. gobble it up!
