Creamy Italian Sausage Mushroom Pasta

A rich flavorful pasta dish with Italian sausage, mushrooms, garlic, and whiskey. Your pallet will be stimulated by this flavor combination.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 1 lb White Mushrooms - sliced
  • 1 lb Italian Sausage
  • 5 cloves Garlic - minced
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese
  • 3/4 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 1 tsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 3/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Bourbon/Whiskey
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 lb Spaghetti Noodles

Instructions

  • In a large dutch oven or cooking pot melt the butter over medium heat
  • Add sausage to melted butter until browned. Remove sausage from the pot and put aside
  • Add mushrooms to the pot and cook for about 10 minutes
  • Add onions to the pot until they are clear
  • Add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes
  • Add Bourbon or whiskey to the pot and cook for 1-2 minutes
  • Add cream cheese and cook until smooth
  • Add heavy whipping cream, ground mustard, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste
  • Add the cooked sausage back into the pot
  • Continue cooking until it's the consistency you prefer
  • Cook noodles as instructed on the package

Notes

Make sure to save your pasta water.  You can use this water by adding it to the mixture if it gets too thick.
